Castello di Fusea (Tolmezzo)

We don’t know much about the history of this castle and the people who had lived there over the centuries. Only two sets of remains are visible today. The first set lies closer to the village and was maybe part of an outer fortification. The second site almost certainly coincides with the ancient castle itself. No one knows for sure what happened to this once imposing structure. It was probably partly demolished to provide building material, to be used for road works or to erect the nearby villages. Future research will hopefully shed light on this little-known castle, portrayed in a 1900 drawing by Pontini.
