Medioevo a Valvasone

The festival is held in the middle of September, Friday through Sunday. Every year the festival theme changes but always derives inspiration from events which really occurred in Friuli and in the feudal city of Valvasone. In addition, typical Medieval days from the 14th century are re-created.

On Saturday evening at 8:00pm a magical Medieval dinner is given in a fairytale-like atmosphere (advance reservations are required). If instead you would like to taste some of the delectable dishes typical of modern-day Friuli the Alla Scala and Alla torre restaurants are recommended. The Alla Torre restaurant, thanks to the owner’s passion for culinary history, usually proposes several dishes inspired by centuries-old recipes. In addition for the festival many kiosks are set up offering scrumptious morsels inspired from antique and modern recipes.

For three whole days the village bustles with knights, squires, commoners, courtesans, publicans, artisans, and minstrels, all dressed in lovely period costumes. You will find yourself immersed in the past as all these colourful characters re-create a Medieval atmosphere.
