How to organize a castle visit
The usability of castles varies depending on their state of preservation and the uses to which they are currently put. Many castles are in a good state of preservation, but are used as private residences or offices and other activities that do not easily admit public presence. They can therefore only be visited by organised groups and by appointment. Other castles host activities that in themselves admit or require public presence. These are castles that are used as museums (or house themed museums), restaurants, wine cellars or have conference rooms and can mostly be visited individually. Other castles in the Friulian foothills and mountains are in a state of ruins and can be visited, in most cases, after an uphill walk of a few tens of minutes along evocative medieval paths in the forest.
