The Castle of Spilimbergo can be reached by coach services provided in nearby towns. For fine local wines and those from other regions combined with tasty samples of cheese and luncheon meats you can go to the La Torre Orientale enoteca, a stone’s throw from the castle. For wonderful dining in one of the most beautiful restaurants of Friuli you can go to La Torre, situated on the castle grounds. And for the rustic, hustling atmosphere and delicious, famous “baccalà” (salt fish) dish you can go to the Bachero restaurant. Overnight accomodation is available at the nearby Hotel President.

On the ground floor of the Alvise castle wing are placed the so-called “Cantine” which are open to the public for conferences, cultural activities, and dinners. Access to the Cantine is through the courtyard to the main entrance; two other doorways lead from the Cantine rooms to the bathrooms and a utility room. All rooms are heated.

The Cantine, restored after the earthquake of 1976, are made up of three rooms (7x7x4m; 4x6x4m; 6x5x4m) with characteristic vaulted brick ceilings, niches in the walls for candles, and precious antique furniture. They can seat 70 people with an overall capacity of 100 people. The rooms are equipped with tables which can be used at conferences or meetings; the lighting system is adjustable. Available year-round.
