Palio delle catapulte

During the Palio, taking place every year on the first Sunday of September, representatives from the Castle di Sopra and those from the Castle di Sotto participate in a challenge using catapults - antique military devices for hurling large stones, reconstructed to true-to-life dimensions. In addition, in the area adjacent the tournament field, demonstrative duels are organized and targets are set up for Frankish battle-axe and crossbow competitions. For last year’s festival a typical 13th-century military encampment was faithfully reproduced on the castle grounds. Every year exciting attractions such as this proudly crown this fascinating festival.
